The Role
It was a brilliant year and i progressed both in the laboratory and my person skills by working with a wide range of patients, student and healthcare staff.
Within a month i was a working as a full member of the laboratory team and within the year, i was trained in every section. Everyone was really friendly and even had regular pub visits!
They was more like my best friends than managers and there was nothing i could not ask them and i got all the support i needed to train and complete my IBMS portfolio.
It changed with the school holidays but there was always something to do, either a project or analyser maintenance
As much as any other biomedical scientist working in the laboratory with the exception of blood bank.
I completed my IBMS training so i can jump stright into a job once i graduate and it cemented by future dream of being a laboratory scientist
The Company
Everyone was friendly and with it being a small department, everyone talked and got along
There was multiple maternaty leaves within the year i was working so some things got pushed back however there was always a plan
I was trained upto and deyond the standard expected from any biomedical scientist and i was able to paticipate in any training sessions that was possible in house
Subsidised Canteen
Company Parties/Events
Above 25 days holiday
With the NHS at the moment, few jobs are around however i am sure i will fit into any other department with the training i have recieved
The Culture
We had fairly regular pub visits to socialise with my colleagues and the christmas party was great
Sheffield was really cheap rent wise and i could not imagine living anywhere else
There is everything under the sun in terms of places to go and things to do in sheffield!
Only IBMS training and a few student training days that I helped lead.
