The Role
Although sometimes the work (as with any first job) is tedious, there is a great scope of opportunity to really learn and be part of interesting work, so long as you are able to use your initiative and find it!
My team both internal and external were fairly accommodating. The HR reps made a real effort to make sure that we all settled in well to our internship and maintained communication with the other interns during the course of our time at Accenture.
Key points of contact were clearly identified at the beginning. These people were easy to approach through all mediums of communication and were able to respond sufficiently to any queries I had.
Although somedays varied, I generally had enough work to keep me busy for the entire working day. On ocassion I was given more work to do than possible in a normal day, but I was not asked to stay behind for more than 2 hours to complete it.
Being given my own project to work on initially gave me the right balance of support and guidance and responsibility. Due to project demands, my role changed somewhat during the course of my internship. However, even in this capacity I was given a fair amount of personal responsibility (albiet overseen by relevant members of staff.)
Had I not taken an internship this summer, I would not have developed many of the skills I now possess nor pursued various interests or gained an insight into a completely different industry sector (in addition to being exposed to the world of Management Consulting.)
The Company
Atmosphere in the office could get intense on ocassion, but it was fairly relaxed and friendly for the most part.
It is clear that the HR team has thought long and hard to create a programme that is both fun and informative as well as giving interns a realistic view of what it is like to work for Accenture.
Although I was not able to attend due to a client project deadline, the firm was willing to invest a externally recognised qualification in me, to be studied over 2 days.
Subsidised Canteen
Company Parties/Events
Above 25 days holiday
Although we have not been told whether or not we have been offered a place yet, I would definitely take up a place with Accenture if offered!
The Culture
Although we were their largest Summer group to date, everyone got along really well!
It can be fairly expensive around Bank/St Pauls but there's always Happy Hour!
Central London is always busy no matter what day of the week!
We were exposed to the options of joining the numerous extra-curricular groups within Accenture as well as an obligatory Charity Day as well as the options for 2 interns to take up positions abroad.
