About You
As soon as I walked through the door I felt very welcome and everyone involved was so easy to talk to and eager to give us a taste of what life was like at Taylor Wessing.
The day was very well structured - ensuring that we were always looked after and had someone to talk to. This made me feel very valued - it really meant I could ask any questions throughout the day.
I received a good level of guidance and support throughout the day. I never felt overwhelmed or constantly being assessed but at the same time I was able to seek help or understand my role by asking questions and I never had to wait to be heard.
The skills I learnt in the open day will greatly help with my application and my further career in law. In particular it boosted my confidence in the run up to assessment days etc and cemented my interest in the firm.
The Company
It was very well structured and clearly presented to us so we all understood where we should be and what we were doing at all points of the day. It was a good mixture of talks and activities so you never once felt that you were sitting down for too long or hearing the same thing twice.
Everyone at Taylor Wessing was so friendly and eager to introduce us to the firm. En the other students selected to come on the day were approachable and easy to talk to - the atmosphere was not competitive at all.
The right amount of attention and investment was given to us for an open day.
Yes - it was great to have talks given by partners that had started with the firm as trainees and then speak to trainees at the beginning of their career path.
I really felt that by coming to the firm and experiencing the open day, I gained a greater insight into the firm culture than I could have hoped to understand from the website or from speaking to representatives at the Law Fair at my university.
The day has motivated me on to a career in law, and in particular, a career with Taylor Wessing.
Everything Else
The firm were very open about their reimbursing policy for the day and instantly gave us forms to fill outa d band in to be reimbursed - very easy and clear process.
Of course there was a networking lunch and networking drinks at the end of the day. More importantl, there were always opportunities to speak to people from the firm throughout the day - really helping to build a relationship with the firm.
The lunch was quite challenging to speak to the trainees/associates at lunch. The buffet lunch was laid out with small plates and not many tables to rest on. This meant that it was hard to network and eat a good lunch at the same time. In a way it may have been better to give sit down tables and maybe a form of "speed networking; rotating around trainees or associates throughout the hour.
Yes - lots of opportunities to do pro bono work such as reading to children at a local school as well as sports teams and social life between trainees.
Definitely - an excellent opportunity to speak to people from the firm in a more relaxed but focussed setting than you would get at university events etc.
