The Role
Slotted in as a member of the team both in and outside of the office.
They didn't let me feel like I was pestering them when I asked questions. Feel like they genuinely appreciated the work I completed.
In particular when beginning a mini design project we had a long meeting covering the basics up to the details.
Compared to the year before the office as a whole was a lot busier. Always had work to be getting on with, with no time to waste.
Prepared documents. Designed a drainage system which was then checked my higher team members.
The technique of collating and processing of infrastructure information has been implemented in two design projects so far, covering topics that other teams had not even considered.
The Company
Hard working. Some fun chat was allowed but mainly saved for lunch times. Enough work to keep busy
There was set design work for me to undertaken in addition to assisting other team members.
Taught me the software skills required such as BentleyCAD/Bluebeam/MicroStation. Site Safety and Health & Safety training. Invited me back to undertake a second placement.
Company Parties/Events
Not sure how much space is available in the new Manchester office. Stated they would want be back if I applied.
The Culture
Payday drinks. Some lunches together. Football teams. Seems the younger crowd of the office are all pally with eachother outside of the office.
Lived at home. Socialising slightly more expensive than typical student areas.
City that I had grown up in. Fab
Think a group met up for a walk. Otherwise just friendship groups meeting up rather than organised activities.
