The Role
Great team to work with, plenty of events to get involved in within the company and surrounding area.
Felt like an integral part of the team and took on real responsibilities.
Manager and surrounding team were always willing to provide constructive and very in-depth feedback where required. Manager invested time into providing training for both technical skills (e.g. SQL training) as well as softer skills such as best business practices.
Work load varied, always had a project I could be working on.
Responsibility increased throughout the year as I became more competent with using the systems in place. Took over a number of key business processes in addition to having the opportunity to manage a reasonably sized project as well as being a system owner for a number of web applications.
I now have a far greater understanding of the role and importance of a business analyst within a company and have a far greater knowledge SQL and SQL Server which are currently assisting me in my final year project. The year was a great experience and has given me plenty of examples to discuss during graduate job interviews.
The Company
Very friendly, open environment.
Manager and surrounding colleagues invested as much time as they could to support and develop my skills where possible / and required. Far more proficient at SQL, QlikView and producing documentation than I was prior to the year.
Flexi Time
Subsidised/Company Gym
Financial Bonus
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
There is no IT Graduate Scheme available at PRUK. However, it is still a great opportunity to get your foot in the door and develop a range of skills.
The Culture
4 Other placement students with 2 were living outside of London. However, we managed to organise a number of social events throughout the year.
The move to Chiswick Park (although far nicer than Hounslow) did increase the costs. Living more east of the office helped reduce the cost of rent.
Not much going on in west London, but it's still London, plenty to do in the surrounding area.
