About You
I thoroughly enjoyed the Open Day. It was well structured and had a good mix of talks and interactive activities. I feel it was an excellent us of my time, and will be extremely beneficial when applying for vacation schemes and training contracts. I would recommend it to anyone considering applying to Taylor Wessing.
I felt incredibly valued throughout the duration of the Open Day. Trainees would happily come up and chat to us, as well as answer any of our questions. Also, the Graduate Recruitment team were available all day, and were extremely approachable. I felt very comfortable asking them questions about the application process.
I was given a lot of support during the day. Not only did we receive general application hints and tips which can apply for all applications. We were also given detailed information on what sort of candidates Taylor Wessing are looking for, and how we can successfully demonstrate this in an application.
The business competition in the afternoon was a great way to develop teamwork skills, not only for university presentations, but also for assessment days. Getting the feedback from the Graduate Recruitment Partner on our presentation was incredibly beneficial. I also believe the talks we received will greatly benefit my application to Taylor Wessing.
The Company
Extremely well structured. An agenda was provided at the start of the day outlining all of the actives which we would be doing, and each event flowed very well into the next one. Throughout the talks there were plenty of opportunities to ask questions which were answered in fantastic detail - I didn't at all feel like I couldn't ask questions.
The overall atmosphere was very welcoming and collegiate from the moment I walked in. I felt valued and appreciated. It seemed like all staff members had a genuine interest in getting to know me better. It was clear that the staff members all get along very well, and it was great to see a fantastic working relationship between the Recruitment Partners and the Graduate Recruitment Officer and the current Trainees and NQ’s
I felt that Taylor Wessing really invested a lot of time and effort in getting to know me better. I am extremely appreciative of the effort they went into into ensuring that the day did more than simply showing Taylor Wessing, but instead providing applicants with a truly fantastic insight into Taylor Wessing as a whole and how candidates can be successful.
The Open Day was a great way to truly understand what life is like within Taylor Wessing as the trainees were on hand at various points of the day to provide a detailed answer into what life is like in the various different departments. They were also very keen to let us know about the support they receive not only from their supervisor, but also HR.
It was a great to be in the London office and get a feel of the culture first hand - this is something which I really benefited from. While you can read it in many Law Firm brochures, it was fantastic to experience it first hand. Also, the trainees and recruitment partners talked extremely highly of the culture which backed up the brochure and positive feeling I experienced.
The day really inspired me again that being a solicitor at a forward-thinking law firm is defiantly for me. Its sometimes easy to lose sight of why the applications are worth it, but going to this open day and speaking first hand to so many different members of staff really reignited my fire again, and made me confident that this is the path for me!
Everything Else
Taylor Wessing kindly offered to reimburse my travel expenses.
The Open Day provided plenty of networking opportunities. We had a buffet lunch with other trainees, and it was really helpful to talk to them about their training experiences and how they are finding working at Taylor Wessing. Also the evening drinks provided an opportunity to talk to NQ’s at Taylor Wessing, which was again very beneficial.
The Open Day included a one hour networking lunch with current trainees at the firm. They were all extremely happy to talk to us and provided some really useful advice with regards to applying to Taylor Wessing. The day concluded with evening drinks with some of the trainees we met at lunch, and also other trainees and newly qualified staff members.
During the networking lunch with the current trainees at Taylor Wessing, I was able to ask current trainees about pro bono work they do, and also social actives they do within the firm. I was so surprised by the variety of different work the various trainees do outside of work. It was also great to hear about the christmas parties and also ski trips which are organised.
I would thoroughly recommend this Open Day opportunity to a friend (and already have). It was my first Open Day and I was sceptical as to how helpful it would be. I was completely blown away by how well organised and thought through the day was. It was so helpful to meet current staff and also speak to the recruiters who will be reading your application.
