The Role
The project that I worked on was quite fun and the atmosphere of the charity is really nice.
I felt valued to an extent. I think I would have felt more valued if I had made more of an effort to get involved in group activities.
My manager was amazing. She gave help every step of the way and was always there to answer any questions.
It varied day to day. Any time there was a quieter day, I would let my manager know and she would give me some more stuff to work on. This meant I got to work on a variety of projects during my time here.
Good amount of responsibility, more than I expected which was nice.
I think the skills that I developed and training I received will really help in my future. The CV and interview skills workshop was very useful and helped me to perfect my CV. I have realised that I have skills which I was not even aware of.
The Company
Really lively and nice. Everyone is always working hard but also have time to chat. Everyone who works here is genuinely nice.
Really well. As CRUK has had so many interns over the years, the whole scheme runs really smoothly. The induction day was a great way to get an overview of the charity. I was constantly given guidance and support. As well as having regular 1:1s with my manager, I also got matched with a mentor from another team. This gave me even more support with my personal development.
Individual people were great. Everyone that I approached with questions or requests to meet was willing to do so. The CV skills workshop was really beneficial, as were HR with advice on how to make the most of LinkedIn.

Very appealing. The charity is so well respected and having worked here, I now know why. The work that is done in the organisation is so important and I would love an opportunity to work here in the future. A lot of people around the office seem to be former interns.
The Culture
Yes! I did not really take part in many of the social activities due to working a part time job at the same time. However, I was always made aware of different activities which were going on.
I lived outside of London so commuted in. All my travel expenses were reimbursed (thanks to my manager being okay with me travelling off peak.) We also had £4 lunch allowance each day which was useful.
Lots. There were loads of fundraising activities going on ALL THE TIME. There were constant offers of volunteering opportunities at exciting events.
