    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • Very well structured but there were some times throughout the day when it felt like there was some down time/waiting between activities. Overall, very well structured though.

    4/5

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • The general atmosphere was very friendly and professional! Everyone at the firm was welcoming and approachable yet professional. All of the recruiters, partners and trainees seemed like they genuinely wanted to help and provide the best information they could to all of the attendees. The drinks at the end of the day was a good chance to talk to some of the partners and trainees and other insight day participants more informally.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The firm really made it clear that the people at the insight day had been selected from a large number of applicants and that the future trainees of Taylor Wessing are the future of the firm. The grad recruitment were very encouraging and supportive. The participants felt that the firm really was making an investment in them and the day was genuinely to help us improve our skills, achieve our goals and better our chances of securing a position at the firm.

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • Taylor Wessing presented itself very well as a firm and gave honest insight into what a day in the life of a trainee would be like. Both the presenting partners and the current trainees gave a "true picture" of the expectations and roles of the trainees at Taylor Wessing. During the lunch and drinks the trainees told us some of their tasks they have been asked to do and highlights from their experiences.

    5/5

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • Going into the office of the firm and having presentations from the managing partner, grad recruitment, and trainees really brings to life what the firm says about itself on the website and lets you experience the culture for yourself. I t was clear that Taylor Wessing has a friendly culture, is non-hierarchical, is business focused, dedicated to innovation and providing quality results to its clients, and places real value on communication sills/networking/personality of its employees.

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • When I attended the insight day I already had decided on my general career path of being a solicitor. However, the content of the day was helpful in making me really consider what firms I should be applying to and taking into account a firm's culture, values, quality of work, whether a firm is full service/what practice areas they specialise in, and opportunities the firm has for development. The content of the day also encouraged keeping an open mind for your career path.

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • I was not paid for this experience. I was also not reimbursed for expenses for attending this open insight day at Taylor Wessing because I live in London and did not incur any travel expenses when I attended. However, it was made clear that Taylor Wessing would reimburse any travel expenses attendees incurred for this experience.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • The lunch with trainees and the drinks in the evening were a great opportunity to network and meet other employees of the firm. Both portions of the day provided relaxed social situations to easily network and talk to people from partners to trainees. All the representatives of the firm really made an effort to mix and talk with everyone at the insight day.

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • The networking/ social event opportunities were excellent! The food was alright during lunch, but it could have been better. The trainees during lunch were outgoing and approachable and very real/ honest about their experiences. They were happy to talk to everyone there. The drinks reception in the evening was great! There was lots of wine and beer and other non-alcoholic drinks and other partners from the firm came down to Cloud9 to meet with us and network. These events also allowed for networking between the attendees. Both the lunch and the drinks reception felt relaxed and social and were enjoyable.

  • 14. Did you find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work?
  • We did find out about activities that employees can get involved in outside of work. The presentations had information about different pro bono initiatives of the firm that employees can volunteer with outside of work. The trainees I talked to also told me about some of the different social events that their departments put on. I would say this was one of the areas of the day that was slightly lacking in comparison to other areas of the day.

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • I would absolutely recommend this insight day to a friend. It was the most useful insight day I have attended at a law firm and gave the most thorough advice for completing the firm's online application form and how to prepare for/behave at interviews. This insight day also had more opportunities than most insight days do to network with people from the firm over a trainee lunch and during a drinks reception. Overall, my experience was very positive.
