The Role
[This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyPlacement Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] It is central HR's uttermost responsibility to evaluate the actual need, fit and readiness of each office to take in an intern. Travel to each location to get the look and feel first hand. Travel expenses will be inevitable but avoiding "bad business" saves more money. When asked specifically during the recruitment process whether this location has a processes for interns in place, be honest. Don't assume that a global presence equals standard procedures throughout.. ´Fast completion of ad hoc administrative work was much appreciated by my colleagues. However, no feedback when it came to other tasks.
[This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyPlacement Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] No introduction whatsoever to the business. Having to pick up bits of information along the way creates a scattered picture of expectations and responsibilities.
After having given a few "projects" I soon came to realize that I had no ownership of themafter the initial process created by me was in place. No access to the data in the projects despite repeatable requests for system access sent to manager.
First three months there was none. Should I have gotten an introduction about where the business stands, its challenges etc., I would have been far more proactive. However, as mentioned above, the managers, supervisors and co-workers were far too busy or just unwilling to take ownership of intro.

The Company
Discouraged. From the start of the year, head- count in sales dropped from 14 to 4 which resulted in overall stagnation. Consequently, this triggered dissatisfaction in other departments. 7 people left the office having worked for the company for +10 years.

The Culture
Most of the employees have worked together for 10+ years so the social scene among them was good despite the overall turmoil.
