The Role
Cancer Research is a really wonderful place to work! The internship is really well structured and there are lots of social events for interns going on throughout the placement.
Everyone in the policy department was really welcoming and always available for discussions about any projects I was working on
My manager was incredibly supportive. He always scheduled meetings and was happy to have random chats about pieces of work I didn't fully understand or give CV tips etc.
I found I was the perfect level of busy throughout my internship - never too stressed about having too much to do, but equally never bored
I was assigned some really important pieces of work during my internship, such as pulling together CRUK's response to a Welsh government consultation on minimum unit pricing of alcohol, but my manager and other members of the department were always available to check through things and offer feedback I could work on
I gained some really useful skills during my internship which I'm sure will help me enormously in my new job
The Company
Really great atmosphere - good balance between quiet working and fun chatting
Amazingly well organised and well structured, cannot praise the internship enough
CRUK invested a great deal of time in interns - managers gave a great deal of one on one attention and there was also a mentor scheme interns could benefit from
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Sports and Social Club
Company Parties/Events
Working from home
A great place to work and anyone would be lucky to get a permanent job at CRUK
The Culture
Drinks every week after work and lots of events like xmas dinner and leaving dinner
Lots of happy hours and fairly reasonable restaurants around Angel
Pretty good!
Yes, lots of evening events and running clubs etc.
