The Role
The whole experience from start to finish was misleading, the team offered up the role as a sales based role supporting senior sales managers, when in fact it was complete opposite of what was expected
A very clear divide between interns and regular staff, [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyPlacement Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] regular monitoring and checks placed upon interns as a collective. Often set tasks that would challenge most senior employees which was rewarding, however complete lack of guidance as management often had little to no experience in the work they were setting. When asking for help it was shrugged off and often when given seemed to be reluctant
Started off moderately light however workload was ramped up after month one bordering to the point of being counter productive. Many interns within my team often worked past 7pm and were expected back at 7am. Rewarding experience of given lots of responsibility that were of significant to the company such as weekly presentation of KPI's to VP and senior management within HP however I do not believe this was intentional and was the consequence of interns being treated as full time employees

The Company
Generally good atmosphere when interfacing with other teams and other senior members of staff. Very good atmosphere between interns and graduates.
No real guidance for interns and the whole handover process was informal and handled by previous interns with little to no input from our team or senior management. Often felt deceptive as senior management would not answer direct questions on what we could expect to be doing or how we should go about certain aspects of our work. There were no opportunities to develop skills such as workshops or learning classes, when setting these up on ones own often rejected by management /supervisor. As above absolutely nothing was invested by my team or the company itself which left me feeling very frustrated and like the placement was a waste of time as it was more what could be given to HP than what they could give us.

A;though various other positions within HP seem interesting the overall culture experienced within the SSP team within Bracknell has severely dissuaded my intention of joining the company. The grad scheme seems to ship you out to Erskine and keeps you there until a position becomes available ( tales of grads being stuck there for 2 years!) and often treated as interns still. Not within HP directly however local football clubs Binfield FC play a semi pro standard and also various rugby teams within the local area
