The Role
It is an amazing opportunity to work with young children. I was able to help students decide if they wanted to go into further education as well. It was really enjoyable and also very satisfying
They trusted in my totally to be able to look after a class full of students. They always talked well of the work I did and gave me helpful criticism on how to treat misbehaving students.
They would support me in what classes I would like to be involved within and helped guide me into a role I would enjoy.
Most of the time I had it interesting. But lets not lie.. marking a set of exam papers can get a bit boring! that only happened a couple of times though.
I was given the responsibility to plan my own classes to a degree where I thought the students would understand. They never tried to prevent me from getting completely involved using my own initiative.
It has helped me se how not everyone can understand the way you would normally explain a problem. I have realised that you really need to think in the mind set of a young student if you want to be able to explain the concepts that you are teaching them
The Company
The general atmoshpere was always very exciting because of the younger students that were always full of energy! there was always something different happening each day, and not only would the students learn but so would you.
It was organised very well, with all the training days planned with key dates well beforehand. We could choose which school we wanted to teach at as well.
They invested heavily in my interest in teaching. They paid me generously just so that I could benefit from an experience in a school as a teacher.
Subsidised Canteen
Above 25 days holiday
They have offered me a job for after university and I am still contemplating whether to take up the opportunity! It would require getting teaching qualifications however
The Culture
my colleagues were fairly older than myself, however it didn't stop them going out to the bars and pubs. So i often saw them in town.
Loughborough is a fairly cheap place to live and the activities it offers are pretty fair pricing.
There is a large number of bars and clubs to pick from, especially since it was a university town! If that isn't good enough then it is a short drive to nottingham or leicester
There was always a number of things to do, including getting involved in sports or trips to the cinema for example.
