About You
My experience at Stephenson Harwood was very enjoyable - everyone was extremely welcoming and always happy to answer questions.
My supervisor, as well as other people in the department I worked in, gave me work to complete that I felt was important. The value of my work was always explained to me which enabled me to understand the wider picture.
The whole week was planned out hour by hour, and HR were very organised in making sure that everyone on the vacation scheme was in the right place at the right time. With regards to the work, my supervisor was always on hand to give advice and answer questions.
By working to short deadlines I worked on my time management skills. Additionally, through proof reading tasks, I practiced paying close attention to detail.
The Company
The week was extremely well structured. There was a great balance between organised informative presentations given by Partners, Associates and Trainess, and desk time.
Everybody I met was extremely welcoming and friendly. Even the panel on the assessment day!
This is not particularly releavent because the vacation scheme was 1 week. However, the sessions provided were very informative and have helped me work out which area of law I would enjoy the most.
I think that a 2 week placement would give more insight, however I was able to speak to lots of people about their experience at the firm, which has given me great insight.
There was a great deal of socialising with trainees, partners and associates across the firm which has allowed me to understand the cultre of the firm very well.
The firm organised talks throughout the week which covered the firm's main practice areas. This has been very useful as it gave us the oportunity to ask questions about different areas of law.

Social events were organised included post-work drinks, lunches with trainees and partners, and fundraising events.
These opportunities were very relaxed as everyone was friendly and happy to talk.
The firm is very good at organising charitable fundraising events. There is also a social committee that the firm encourages the trainees to participate in.
I have had great fun this week as well as gaining a lot of insight into the firm. I have forund the week extremely rewarding.
