The Role
Well although it took a lot of initive on my part to ask questions and get the best out of the year
Very valued, everyone is helpful and the culture at 3M is unlike any other. You make no mistakes, only learning experiences.
I was fortunate enough to be part of a major project for the company from day 1 of my placement, taking on responsibilities that people who had working for years in the company still hadn't experienced
The theory that i already know from uni seems to have pratical use and the world of marketing really does become art not just a concept.
The Company
Great department, all open plan encouraging interaction and a supportive atmosphere.
Compared to many other companies that I had heard of, 3M was definitely the best. At every application stage, I heard a response within reasonable time. The assessment centre, was a valuable experience in itself, and supported by the staff throughout. Once the job is secured the company supplies a BBQ over 2 days for all the placements students to be introduced to the company. It is great to get to know the other students and meet your manager and team at an informal level.

I am still undecided about a career in marketing but that is simply a personal issue. The prospects within the company for promotion and development are emmense and this is what may persuade me to stay in a similar role.
The Culture
I have many friends at 3M, but I am particularly close to the other placement students. 3M encourages social interaction through efforts such as the BBQ as mentioned. Their is also TNDC, which is a thursday night drinking club held once a month by established employees throughout 3M.
Cost of living is very reasonable considering the wage we are paid. Rent is about £60-£100 a week depend on your tastes, and socialising is what you would expect from the south east. About £2.40 for a pint and £3.20 large glass of wine. Also you can make use of the student advantages with cinema discounts on wednesdays and ice-skating also.
In Bracknell non-existant unfortunately, but with both Reading, Windsor and Wokingham so close, a good night out is not far away!
Yes. The company runs all sorts of clubs, football being popular with the lads, but also their are many gyms and good community activities in the area.
