    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • The office atmosphere was excellent, and living a short walk from the beach was excellent. The job was challenging, but rewarding, and the work was incredibly varied.

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • This placement was one of the few where you were treated like a graduate - there was no differentiation between being a graduate or being a placement student.

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • We were assigned buddies, mentors and career coaches. There are bi-annual appraisals and objectives / performances reviews after every engagement. At no did I feel that there was no guidance or support - regardless of whether my query was work related or more personal in nature.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • There is a definate seasonal element to the job. Generally, when the work is quieter there are professional exams to be sat, or tasks to prepare for the busier times. There was also an excellent culture in the office that did not promote 'face time' - if you got your work done early, there was no problem with finishing early!

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • As much as a graduate, and as much as you could handle! There were always oppurtunities to push yourself harder.

    3/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • They clearly helped as I got a 1st! I found that the general organisation and time management skills helped to ensure all my study was productive. The general knowledge that I gained about business in general definately saw me well and gave me an excellent pool of knowledge to draw on.

    4/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The atmosphere was the perfect balance of professionalism and friendliness.

    5/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Exellecent. Unlike many people I know, I actually had a proper job to go to!

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • A few courses at the office

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Sports and Social Club

    Company Parties/Events

    3/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • They are taking me on as a graduate!!

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • There were 2 other placement students so the atmosphere with them was godd - but ultimately, you socialise with the whole office in general - regardless of your position.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • The cost of living in Jersey was expensive (around £500 a month for accomodation), but the salary was high to reflect this (around £20k) and there was also paid overtime and a low tax rate!

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • The night life is very good - with lots of nice bars and a few night clubs - but beware that as it is such a small place, you inevitably bump into clients on a night out!

    5/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There were a huge number of chance to get involved in activities from sports to tree planting.

    4/5
