The Role
I really enjoyed my work here being able to work on real projects and learning a lot of technical skills that will be useful for my future career. I received clear set of my project goals when I started and extensive guidance that helped me to complete the projects. All the work I have done was challenging and technical.
I felt that I was making contribution to my team's project and that my work was valued by everyone and taken seriously. I could ask anyone in the team or even outside my team and my colleagues would spend their time supporting me with my project and/or answering my questions.
I have received support wherever I asked for it, it wasn't automatic. But I could bring up any problems and they would get sorted out. I didn't feel like I wasn't receiving enough support throughout my placement either with my work projects or other work-related issues I needed help with.
The work was very challenging and I felt very busy. It was common in the company to work overtime to finish projects. My project deadlines were tight so I felt constantly under pressure, however, they got extended when unexpected problems arose. The working time was also quite flexible so everyone could adjust the start and end of their working day and occasional work from home was allowed.
I had an appropriate responsibility as a placement student. I was working on real projects and had an influence on how it was developed but I was not working on anything performance or time critical that could not be reverted. I did not feel overwhelmed with responsibility but I did not feel like my work was not useful either.
My placement was very beneficial for my further career. I got exposure to real projects and tools and learnt to solve problems from the industrial perspective. I feel I could not learn these skills in my leisure or at university so I find them especially valuable and I believe I will definitely use what I learnt as soon as I start a graduate job.
The Company
My team’s office was sometimes fun and sometimes rather quiet. I found everyone approachable and happy to help with any problems I got with my projects and also easy to talk to about anything. The office looked very modern, cool and comfortable and the layout made it easy to cooperate but it did not feel too crowded.
All the work was very organised, my project were set up at the beginning. And although the project plan changed during my team here, it was for the better and I always had a clear set of goals and knew what I was doing and what resources I had available.
I did not feel that much training was received into the personal development area, most things I picked up as I went along, what I learnt will however be beneficial for my future studies and career. There was pretty much no training on personal development for interns and or permanent staff either. I think that is something the company should improve and could benefit from.

Working from home
I enjoyed the placement and the kind of work I did here, I would be very happy to come back and work on similar things. It would be great to come back to a place I know and where I made friends. I also like the location of Imagination HQ , which is very close to London.
The Culture
There was not many placements students working at Imagination outside summer , however, around summer regular meetings were organised where I had a chance to get to know some. There is however a lot of graduates in the company and generally everyone is really friendly and easy to get along with.
Since I worked in the HQ in Kings Langley that is close to London the cost of living and socialising is quite high. However, Kings Langley itself is a village, so it is possible to find cheaper places to live at here. The salary however covered the cost and I didn't feel that it wasn't enough for living or that I couldn't socialise.
The nightlife really depends on where you live. In the village where the company is situated there is pretty much no nightlife but most people commute. I lived in the village, so I felt like there could be more things to do. However, the village is close to London, which has plenty of opportunities within commutable distance.
The company also organises some evening events from time to time either on site or outside, such as movie nights or musical performances. There is a limited number of opportunities in the village where the company is situated, however, the village is very close to London and has a train station, so you can find pretty much everything within 45-minute journey from where the company is.
