The Role
This was my first real job and I was very happy with it.
One thing I really enjoyed about Metaswitch was the work enviornment. Everyone was very friendly. I also feel that my boss gave me interesting work that he needed to get done, not trivial stuff.
I had a lot of support. He sometimes didn't give me a lot of guidance, but I think this was great because I had to learn a lot on my own. I think this gave me a valuable oppourtunity to really pick up on some new skills. If he would have just told me how to do everything, I wouldn't have learned as much.
I usually had the right amount to do. Sometimes I had a little free time, but this was good. It would have been tough if I was working for every minute I could during the day.
Obviously for an intern I wasn't doing the more important work, but I everything I did do carried weight. I never got the feeling that my boss was giving me work just to keep me busy. Everything I did had a purpose.
This was my first work experience and it was great. I learned a lot that I will definitely never forget.
The Company
Very good, everyone was friendly.
The Culture
I was able to live at home and commute up so I had very little costs.
