The Role
Thoroughly enjoyed my placement year with IBM, the team are very welcoming and utilise interns to complete worthwhile tasks, get heavily involved and add value to the organisation.
Felt very valued - was asked to carry out a lot of tasks that were significant to the teams development.
Manager was always there to answer any questions, help with work I was unsure of and guided me in the right way to my career path.
Steadily busy. Depending on the current projects and goings on, some months much busier than others working longer hours etc.
I was given responsibility to arrange certain events, take ownership of projects so quite a lot of responsibility,
Such a good experience, very good job to have on my CV. Very relevant to my course and will help me to understand better and complete work to a higher standard.
The Company
Friendly, fun but professional when needed to be.
Extremely well organised, had a community of interns and very well structured.
Had training at the beginning with the previous incumbent of my role. Lots of opportunities available for training and to find out about other areas in the business should I wish to take them.
Flexi Time
Company Parties/Events
Above 25 days holiday
Very appealing, would love to work for IBM in the future .. Have applied to the grad scheme.
The Culture
Very good, over 300 interns at all locations. Around 50 at mine .. socialised a lot out of work hours, felt like being at university but working full time.
Worked in Portsmouth, not too costly.
Only a few clubs but fun because with other students so made our own fun.
There are various sports teams that can get involved with.
