The Role
Although I was happy with the high level of responsibility I was given, the work wasn't very varied or what I was led to believe it would be like. There was a much higher emphasis on IT skills than the recruitment process made out to be. Also, there was a span of a month where I was working 14 hours a day almost every day which was a bit heavy handed.
Accenture were very keen to make use of us, although there were occasions where it felt like you couldn't really do much and weren't getting work.
It varied on the projects, but for the most part this was good
Once again, it depended. Obviously towards the end there was less work, but on most days I worked a lot of over time (unpaid)
In my first project I didn't get much responsibility; however in my second one I was placed in charge of a team of 5 people in India and responsible for a whole stream of testing
The skills I picked up weren't overly useful for History, however I did get much better at time keeping and organising myself so that was a plus
The Company
This was a project based placement in which I had 2 offices. In general, the first office was much more fun but that was because the company which we were consulting for was much younger and had a different culture.
In the first week we were kept waiting for projects.
Lots of training was available
Subsidised Canteen
Subsidised/Company Gym
National Travel
International Travel
Financial Bonus
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Above 25 days holiday
Working from home
I didn't really like the line of work. The rating is more of a reflection on me as opposed to the company
The Culture
There were lots of socials which were usually well attended
London is very expensive, however in terms of work socialising there were often budgets so it was fine
I've lived in London my whole life anyway and always loved the nightlife. The city is no different, aside from an overly large abundance of Essex girls who can be fairly irritating
