The Role
IBM has a create company culture with a real community feel and friendly atmosphere within the office environment between full time IBMers and the foundation community (apprentices, gap years, interns and graduates). This atmosphere made my working environment a great place to work, learn and develop every day of the week!
I hold a vital role within my team acting as a vocal point between IBM and the client. Therefore, I felt valued in my contribution by both IBMers within my team and the client. IBM is company where hard work and commitment will be acknowledged by others.
I have both a task manager that I have daily contact with and provides advise and guidance within my role and for my future career. My second manger is my EPM (Early Professional Manager) who supports me to ensure I develop myself as much as possible during my placement. IBM have provided face to face training course and vast online session to improve my effectiveness in my role and my personal development.
My job role was a real job that is carried out my Full-Time IBMers. With this responsibility came the workload to ensure that I was never left without task to complete. It has been time pressured job but I have learn how to prioritise work loads and become more organised individual.
I was an essential member of the team during my placement and given responsibility for writing contracts, pricing deals, communicating clients through emails, over the phone and face to face in order to drive revenue and achieve targets. I give opportunity to expand my role during my placement to add project and service management responsibility to my job role.
The both the business skills and interpersonal skills I have development during my time at IBM will help further studies when applying business theory to real business situations. Combined with experiences and responsibility I have held during my year will provide me with confidence and evidence of my ability for applying for future jobs.
