The Role
I thoroughly enjoyed my placement at IBM. I had a supportive team that really cared about my development. I was given lots of responsibility from an early stage and I have learned so much since starting my placement.
I felt incredibly valued as a Intern within my team. My opinion was always listened to and taken seriously. I created work for our clients, which was great as I was doing meaningful work.
I had a lot of support from my manager and colleagues. The day I started my manager told me "If you need anything, all you need to do is ask". This was particularity comforting for me when I started, as this was the first time that I had worked in a MNC. In addition to this, IBM have a community set up for Interns, where you an get help, advice and information about the Placement scheme. I also had a manager who was external to my daily job, who I would regularly meet up and discuss any issues that I had.
My workload would fluctuate. If my workload was down, there was always work / projects both inside and outside my team that I could get involved in.
I was given lots of responsibility. My team trusted me to complete work for our clients and constantly gave me meaningful work.
I have developed a lot since starting my placement. I have learned so much about how businesses operate and developed an awareness of IBM's business culture. I have also improved my communication, presenting, adaptability and team working. All of these will assist me with my final year at University. My placement made me realise that I want to work in Sales due to the exposure that I've had throughout my year.
The Company
The atmosphere is very welcoming, frendly and very social. All my team got on well and would often out together after work.
Very organised, all the necessary steps and training were in place for me to be to start working with my team at ease.
Heavily, my team were keen on me developing professionally and personally. I got the opportunity to go to North America with my team on a business trip as my team I thought I would learn from as we attended client meetings and account planning sessions.

Very appealing, I have applied to the Grad scheme.
The Culture
Yes, there are lots of interns at IBM and there are always social events happening and different things to get involved in.
As I was based in London the cost of living was expensive, but the salary balanced it out. I didn't manage to save any money this year though.
Very good - there was always lots happening around central London!
Yes, I was constantly getting email about other opportunities and encouraged by my manager to get involved in more in order to broaden my horizon.
