The Role
It was a very good experience in terms of an introduction to the working environment. I was given opportunities to display my strengths and also get an insight to all of the others job available within IT.
I was welcomed by every member of the team and was able to develop good relationships with the majority of them. The staff were friendly and provided help when required.
The staff were friendly and provided help where required. My manager was also able to assess my strengths and set me assigments based on what he thought I was capable of doing. I was also handed numerous projects by my university which required monthly participation from my manager/supervisor, which they were happy to provide.
I think the balance was good. There would be times where I would be very busy depending on the day of the week and the tasks I had been set. There would also be times where I was quiet and therefore able to get on with long term work such as service documentation.
Initially there was'nt much responsibility, but I think this was good as I was learning about the field of work I was in and gaining an understanding about the processes in place. Each month I would be given more responsibility and be assessed based on the quality of my work.
In terms of my degree I can't say as I have just finished this placement. But overall in terms of experience, the skills attained and just generally I believe working here has put me a cut above the rest.
The Company
At times the atmosphere was very hectic depending on what was going on at the time. As I was in IT, you find that the atmosphere is generally quite busy.
The company took in a group of 7 placement students in total. We were all introduced, taken for lunch, assigned a (buddy) and given sufficient training in the first few months on the general scope of the company.
The company invested in training for me on a regular basis. I was able to attend ITIL V3 Courses, Excel courses and also general courses which working on Communication, meeting and development skills.

The company currently does'nt have a graduate scheme, so it may be difficult to join the company at a later stage. But I hear this may be set to change soon.
The Culture
The relationship was good with the other placement students. It makes the experience easier when you have students in the same boat as you all new to the company.
If you choose to work in the city and you commute from out of london be warned that travel is expensive and so is a Sandwich!
There are a number of bars and restaurants around the city so you can make a night of it.
The company has a sports a social club which organise corporate events each season and also monthly events such as golf days and go-karting.
