The Role
I really enjoyed my time - Luckily, I had a really good, supportive team and loved the brands I worked on.
I felt that my immediate, and wider, team appreciated my views - once I have overcome my shyness, I felt a lot more confidence speaking up and knew my opinions and inputs were valued.
I had weekly 1:1s with my immediate manager, and had weekly team meetings so I was supported well. Additionally, HR scheduled catch ups to check I was getting on well.
For the first week or two, it was mainly inductions and getting to grips with the company - after that I was always busy! I did stay til 6 a few times, but I got most of my tasks done in normal working hours. there was plenty of time to schedule catch ups, and I never overran on deadlines.
A lot more than I was expecting! I did ask for some, but the majority was my managers feeling I was good enough - this really helped me as I got to experience more from the year.
We were always included in training that happened in the Marketing department, and there was extra training for interns such as maximising your potential - plus, anything else you felt you needed, you could find someone to help!
The Company
It was good - it was relaxed and you felt you could pop over to anyones desk if you needed too.
I thought really well - they monitored your performance and helped developed your skills. HR were very supportive with setting up the placement.
As mentioned before, the interns were always included in all the training offered to the wider marketing team, as well as courses for just the interns.
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Working from home
Healthcare/Dental
They normally offer a job to an intern for when they graduate - it's somewhere I would keep an eye out for.
The Culture
We were a group of 10/11 so we could organise things if we wanted - we went to the pub etc.
More expensive than I was used to, but the salary covered it.
Not sure as I lived outside Maidenhead
There was a social team which helped organised events - so lots.
