The Role
Overall I really enjoyed my internship at CRUK, were I was given a series of interesting tasks and projects that not only challenged me, but also provided me with the opportunities to develop a number of key skills - the most important being project management. The work environment itself was very friendly and relaxed which made the whole experience very warm and enjoyable.
I thoroughly enjoyed my internship at CRUK, working alongside really passionate and enthusiastic people who were always willing to help on a variety of topics, from project-specific to personal development and employment. I felt that my input, skills and knowledge were all taken seriously and that my time and effort regarding work was acknowledged.
I received great support whenever I needed, mostly in the form of weekly 1:1 sessions with my manager. We discussed my personal development frequently in order to tailor the overall internship experience to my goals and aims, alongside other unrelated issues.
I felt like my internship provided me with interesting tasks that was accompanied with a level of freedom that allowed me to plan and tailor my workload according to my preferences. I was aware of a number of different projects within the charity and intern fundraiser events that I could also take part in, should I require more work.
I feel that CRUK has done a fantastic job in providing interns with real work experiences that really contribute to the outcomes of relevant projects. I felt like my input, knowledge and skills were taken very seriously along with the outcomes of my assigned tasks. I felt my time and effort was truly valued and appreciated during the 3 months I had been an intern.
I feel that the skills that I have gained during my internship will undoubtedly come in useful when applying to roles within the charity and elsewhere.
