The Role
It's been great because I really enjoyed the work I was doing (science & research communications intern)
I know I was doing something genuinely useful which they would not have had time to do without me so I feel like I made a valuable contribution
My supervisor was really supportive and positive and gave really constructive feedback
my task was on-going and I was not expected to finish by the end of my placement (writing researcher profiles) so although I always had plenty to do there was no time stress which was nice (writing researcher profiles for the website). I think the other internships were quite different from mine in this respect
Not loads, although I was writing copy for the website so to some extent this is responsibility, although it was checked and signed off by my manager first
I think doing this internship directly contributed to me being accepted onto a masters in science communication, and I think the skills I learnt here and will learn on that masters are directly applicable to the career I want to have
The Company
really positive and a good work environment- everyone interested in science and discussing it all the time which I love
the internship scheme is very well established
we had a CV skills and interview skills workshop which was helpful
Flexi Time
Subsidised Canteen
Travel loan
I would love to work for the company and the internship is a good place to start, but it is by no means a guaranteed route to a job
The Culture
intern drinks every Thursday plus other social opportunities
It's London so.... $$$
Angel has some great bars and pubs
Not really aside from Intern socialising and fundraising stuff
