About You
I had a very enjoyable couple of days. I met some interesting people, learnt a lot about Deloitte and took part in a range of activities.
In spite of there being quite a lot of us (probably a little over forty people), they made us feel valued by taking the time to speak to individuals, answer questions, etc. They also emphasized regularly that they want us to succeed in getting the internship.
We learnt a lot about the rest of the application process. We were also given advice about how to network if we did end up working for Deloitte.
I do not think this will help me with my studies, but I felt like many of the things I learnt will help me after my degree. We heard from a body language expert, who taught us a lot about how to present ourselves. We also found out about the extent of the importance of networking and got advice about interviews, including feedback on a mock interview.
The Company
It was very well structured. The two days were packed with activities and presentations, and there was a dinner on the first night with Deloitte staff. These allowed us to find out so much in just two days. Everything was well organised and ran smoothly, in spite of it being the first year of this specific programme running.
Everyone was very friendly. It was great to get to spend two days with students from other universities. In spite of the event being short, we got to know each other during breaks and by completing activities as groups. Everyone from Deloitte was willing to spend time talking to us and to answer questions honestly and extensively. They were friendly, un-patronising and seemed genuinely happy to help and offer advice.
The event was only two days long. However, given the length of the programme, the fact that they had a body language expert come in showed that they were willing to invest in us. We also received a lot of general advice, which is likely to be very helpful in the future.
By speaking to a range of people from Deloitte, we were given a great insight into this. Given the length of the programme, I had absolutely not expected to be given such a good insight.
Very much so.
It was great to find out about a range of areas within Technology. We had very informative presentations about many of the different streams.
Everything Else
Travel expense were reimbursed up to £50. Deloitte provided us with food and drinks throughout both days, and provided overnight accommodation on the first night.
We had talks by a range of employees. We also got to work with employees as part of activities, and spoke to them again at the dinner on the first night.
During the dinner, there were two Deloitte employees per table (and about eight students). We got to speak to these people extensively.
Yes. Deloitte has many clubs that people can join, including a range of sports, committees for specific groups (women, various religions, etc.) and many social events.
Absolutely. I feel like I have a much better understanding of Deloitte, which I hope will help me with the rest of their graduate recruitment process.
