About You
It was a very interesting insight week, I would definitely recommend it ! I learnt a lot from the industry of Asset Management and had a lot of opportunities to talk with employees. It was not under pressure and the HR team made everything for us to fell comfortable.
I felt valued during the Spring Week as every single employee answered to our questions if we had some. They were all really nice and happy to share their experience with us. I felt sincerely valued however we didn't have enough time to really have responsibility or do a real work.
We were well supported by the HR team and they also focus on the application process at Fidelity. They helped us to prepare our CV, interviews and application forms during a whole afternoon. It was really helpful and I think this was really useful for everyone at the Spring Week.
We received a lot of information about the firm, the Asset Management industry but also each division that Fidelity has. We had the occasion to do some group cases / games to better understand how it works and I think this gave me a real insight view of what people in Asset Management do in a day-to-day basis.
The Company
It was really well organised, everything was made for us to be at ease and not to feel lost. They differentiated the investment side from the Sales&Marketing so that we could clearly understand the difference and they also organised a night out in the London Eye and in a bar.
Before going, I was a little bit scared by the atmosphere during the Women Insight Week but finally, it turned out to be really cool and calm. There was no pressure and we didn't feel in competition with each others. The atmosphere was definitely very good.
The firm didn't invest that much on us during the Insight Week as it was only for several days. It was much more discovering the firm than helping them in doing something real. However, they clearly explained us how the recruitment process worked and how to deal with it.
This was probably the main point of the program and I think that they did well. I know better the industry now and I have a more accurate idea of what I want to do and in which division. As we can talk to everyone easily, it was not difficult to make an opinion on each role.
Talking to people, listening to employees and meeting the HR team was far enough to understand the company culture. I think people from Fidelity International sincerely love the firm and they shared this feeling quite easily so that means a lot about the company culture to me.
Everything Else
They book very nice accommodation next to Fidelity International office and they also pay you your transport if you are not from London.
There were a lot of opportunities to meet employees through lunch with graduates, network event with women employees and even while shadowing a division, we had the opportunity to meet them. This was really important and I think this made the Spring very valuable.
The networking events were really nice: first, we went to a bar with all the other girls from the Spring Week and this was the first day so it was an occasion for us to better know each other in a more informal frame. Then, we had a dinner and drink at Fidelity International with employees that ended with a tour of London Eye.
I would definitely recommend this insight to a friend, this is a very unique opportunity. You can learn a lot about the firm and it is really helpful to better understand how the company works but also how you see your career. It gives me more ideas about what I want to do after my degree.
