The Role
Lots of learning opportunities and fantastic colleagues Great working environment Lots of academic and non academic events
Really felt like a functional part of the team and that my work was adding real value
Fantastic level of support throughout: Right from the start I was walked through all my initial work, and once I was capable of working without guidance I could constantly check with my team to see I was doing the correct thing, my work was constantly reviewed, feedback quick and thorourgh and I can always ask for help
Never overwhelmed by work, and never not enough that I find myself with nothing to do
I was not given too much responsibility that I felt overwhelmed, I felt I had a good mix of feeling like I was contributing and feeling that my mistakes would be largely detrimental to the business
Really helpful skill building, learned more here than I did at university about computer science and programming specifics, and about working environments
The Company
Nice office, nice people, great environment
My only fault with the internship, there were some brief presentations at the beginning, but the internship was mostly organised by my team, there were no official intern socials like at other companies
Heavily invested in, lots of opportunists like hackathons, conferences and other training exercises
Company Parties/Events
Staff Sales/Staff Shop
Working from home
I would love to work with UBS again but they keep a lot of information about this under wraps until the end of the placement
The Culture
As previously mentioned, as far as other interns were concerned no, however there was good social activities within the departments
London, not much else needs to be said about cost other than that really
Good nightlife, very expensive and could be difficult to get back from, maybe the night tube will remedy this
Yes, many events were organised for outside of work, on a regular basis, and a lot of them were catered for free
