About You
I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Citi. The staff were nothing but helpful, and welcoming throughout the week. If I had any struggles, they were addressed in a friendly, and timely manner. The week was well structured with a mix of presentations, group work exercises, ice breakers, and working on our main task.
I felt very valued whilst I was at Citi. Everyone made an effort to assist you in any way possible, as well as giving the impression that everyone is on a level playing field, even managers and those in higher authority were very modest and approachable.
The week was filled with guidance and support. If there were any queries, we could ask anyone that was in the room at the time, and if they were unable to resolve the issue, they immediately passed it onto someone that was able to help you, as well as having personal contact with employees allowing you a direct form of communication for queries even when not present at Citi's offices.
I feel that I learned a lot of skills whilst with Citi, and was able to further improve skills that I had already developed. For instance, I feel that the ice breaker activities were very good, as it improved communication skills, as well as group work skills, as everyone was new to each other, yet regardless of who we were paired with, everyone was able to get on with the task with minimal issue.
The Company
Overall, I feel that the week was very well structured. It was clear that a lot of time and effort was put into making the schedule as there wasn't a time when we didn't have any activities. We were always working at either or project, finding out more about the company, or getting useful insights from recent graduate students.
The general atmosphere for me was very relaxed, and friendly. All the employees whom we spoke with were well mannered, and only too happy to help, showing a great representation of Citi. As well as being a very professional atmosphere at the same time as everyone was able to get on with either their individual work, or group work whilst we shadowed them.
I feel that the company invested fully into personal training and development. They were able to help me, and spent time on any issues that I had about anything that was bothering me, giving me direct contact details to ensure that if I had issues outside of the workplace that I was able to easily contact them.
I feel that through the presentations, group working exercises, and activities that were provided they demonstrated very well what it would be like to have a full time role in Citi. They were also objective in this showing both the potential good parts of a job, and the less fun parts, or perhaps monotonous parts to each job.
I feel that the insight was very useful in understanding the company's culture. Due to the detailed content on the presentations, we were given ample information on what Citi has to offer, and how you yourself can get more involved with Citi's culture, and make the most out of your time there.
I feel that Citi really opened my eyes to the banking sector in terms of getting a job in Computing. The key need for a computer backend to every bank shows how important jobs in computing are, because without computers, banks would be a totally different ball game. Therefore, it has definitely steered me in the right direction for my future career path.
Everything Else
I was not paid or reimbursed as I had no expenses to pay, and it was for my own benefit that I went.
There were plenty of opportunities to network and meet people. From the get-go there were plenty of group work activities, coupled with ice breaker activities to ensure that everyone in the group knew everyone else, or was introduced to them, and this was furthered by a key project being completed in random groups, which helped to make friends.
Overall the social events were very good, and provided a good insight into how Citi runs, and how you can get fully immersed in the Citi lifestyle. Through the presentations, we found that there are a range of activities to do, including cinema trips, and barbecues, all of which sound fantastic.
Yes, there are plenty of activities that employees are able to get involved with outside of Citi. As mentioned above, there are cinema trips, and barbecues, as well as group work activities at the beach, and sports tournaments such as five-a-side football, and hockey competitions which other Citi groups from over the world compete in.
After my week at Citi, I would have to highly recommend them to a friend. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience with them, and found all of their staff very informative and welcoming from the get-go. The atmosphere that is created in Citi is very warming, yet professional, giving a good working environment.
