The Role
I really enjoyed the internship and would recommend it to anyone. The experience overall was brilliant and I gained a lot from working for BDO
Everyone was very friendly, and there were a number of socials which meant all the interns became friendly with staff. The people we were working with were easy to get along with and could be spoken to
I was given a "buddy" as well as a counselling manager during my internship who supported me in all aspects of my work. As well as this I had a general manager who looked after all the interns extremely well
How busy I was on a daily basis did vary greatly but there was consistently something to do which meant I was always involved and never sat by myself bored.
Overall, I was heavily involved and was increasingly responsible for work during my internship. Interns were involved with all the work that goes on in the office at different levels so I felt integrated
I have grown professionally a lot during this internship and I feel my skills have been devloped significantly. Now I have a much deeper understanding of the business, industry, and skills beyond my degree have been improved for life
The Company
Everyone is extremely friendly and we did have fun. There were a lot of socials and it was good to see people outside work as this made a better atmosphere in the office
Its been set up well with a training week central for all interns during the first week, and a central reunion at the end. The set up was seamless and its clear that a lot of thought went into the internship
There were potential job positions available for all interns on the course so the seriousness of a career off the back of the internship is very real. The firm recognise this and so invest heavily into the interns, with the centralised training week and the level of involvement
Subsidised Canteen
Sports and Social Club
Company Parties/Events
There is a position available for all interns provided you do well, and so the prospects are realy good
The Culture
I worked in Manchester so the cost of living and socialisng was the same as major cities
The nightlife in Manchester and around the office was really good so there were plenty of opportunities to go out
There were several sports teams and internal activites which created a lot of opportunities for involvement outside work
