The Role
I really enjoyed the work I was involved with on my placement year. During my time with Fujitsu I was exposed to some highly important pieces of work, I learnt a lot and felt highly valuable as an employee.
Great relationship with my colleagues, I felt respected, trusted and relied on to achieve results. Fantastic first look into the 'real working world. It was a privileged to work with such a diverse range of people and always feel important and included.
The support I have received at Fujitsu in terms of learning, experience and professional development has been outstanding. I have been given extra training, unbelievable opportunities and guided through the year all of which allowing me to go above and beyond my job description. I have never been in another job role where I have received this much support - thank you.
I was unsure how to rate Fujitsu on this question. I believe as an individual that it is up to you to manage your time well and to make the most of your year and work to your full potential. There were busier and quieter times during my placement year but only due to business. I was very busy during the year and got involved with as much as I could because I wanted too. I'd hate to be bored or not have enough to do so was more than happy to have packed days. I would say if you want a great job with real working experience to get involved in big opportunities then Fujitsu is the place to be. If you want a chilled out year to do some photocopying and put your feet up then Fujitsu isn't the place for you. Be ambitious here, work hard and it pays off in more ways than you can imagine.
I was given a lot of responsibility at Fujitsu, I was given pieces of work to own myself that fed into some crucial new areas of business for the company. This was challenging at times because I've not experienced anything like it before, however I learnt some valuable lessons and I thoroughly enjoyed having the responsibility!
I can't even express how valuable this year has been for me. I started the year with key skills in mind that I wanted to develop. I was nervous when presenting, I struggled with maths and time management and my IT skills were very basic. The placement has helped me to present to a large audience (over 100 people), manage time very well, and my maths and IT skills have come on in leaps and bounds. All weakness before the placement year have now developed successfully and I am proud to say that thanks to Fujitsu they are now assets of mine. I will continue to work hard at maintaining these skills but Fujitsu has well and truly set me up for the working world post-university and I hope to return in the future.
The Company
Great balance between a professional hard working environment and feeling welcome, included and part of the time. I had so much fun when working of CSR activities and the balance was spot on.
Very organised, no criticism or suggestions here at all.
More than I would have thought before starting the placement. I had extra training, support, mentoring and was put forward for exciting new work opportunities.

The Culture
I was the only placement student on my account which made this quite difficult and was limited in terms of socialising with other IPs. I would have liked to have interacted with other IPs more and know that IPs on other accounts do not have this problem but I can only comment on my own experience.
The cost of living itself was not too pricey, however on the IP wage it is difficult to do much else apart from work during the year if you're not still living at home with parents. Again the area I worked in was quite remote with not much to do there and I didn't enjoy living there at all. I would rather have lived somewhere like London/Birmingham/Manchester (a bigger city) and paid more for living expenses as I would have enjoyed the year more and been much happier.
No nightlife at all. Remote area.
Apart from the Gym there are limited activities/facilities in Telford. Not a good area for a student
