About You
It was a great experience with lovely attendees, and we were made to feel very welcome by the staff taking care of us. The days were action-packed but also had the necessary breaks.
They made an effort to please every individual and were very accommodating of any personal inquiries. We also got a lot of time to personally network with employees so these opportunities were what you made of it.
The instructions to every exercise were clear and I never felt like I didn't know what was going on. The people taking care of us were very nice and could answer all our questions well.
There were a number of skills sessions which developed skills I'll need later in life such as networking skills, presentation skills and personal branding. They assumed no prior knowledge or experience as well which was good.
The Company
It was great with all activities starting and finishing on time. The schedule was adhered to and there were breaks at all the right times. We were never really bored and they kept us busy but not overworked.
Everyone was sociable and friendly. All the participants were team players and we even went out for dinner together after. The activities and team based exercises helped us bond as well. All the staff we met and networked with were interesting people as well - completely going against the boring accountant stereotype.
We had skills sessions and learnt a lot about KPMG and the culture. Everyone at the firm was optimistic about our prospects and eager for us to join them later on.
Everyone was happy to tell us about their typical working day and were honest about the workload and how many of the fields' workloads change seasonally. We also got to interact with some youngsters who were happy to tell us about the social side of the firm.
Every person had glowing reviews of the company culture and how KPMG focuses on it's people. All the people we talked to seemed really happy with the company and enjoyed what they did. They particularly emphasised how it was close knit and differed from the other places they worked including other members of the Big 4.
The requirements for each of the fields were clearly laid out, and we got to talk to people from a variety of fields to form our own opinion. They really broke down what they do at work into simple, easy to understand bits.
Everything Else
I wish they'd reimburse accommodation for the duration of the program, but the reimbursement for transport was good.
Yes, there was a 2 hour networking/drinks session with some employees which was really nice. We also got to ask the people who presented on the various areas at KPMG any questions to satisfy our curiosity.
I just wish they had a little more variety in who we could network with as some of the departments weren't present at the networking session but there were still a few options.
Everyone was eager to tell us about themselves and their personal preferences or hobbies. They all happily told us about both their work and social life.
It was a great, fun time which I thoroughly enjoyed and found very useful. I gained great insight into KPMG and formed a fantastic opinion of the company.
