    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • I got to learn a lot about the branch itself, and the day to day activities of a Santander branch manager. Therefore I enjoyed it quite a lot. I learned a lot about the workings of a commercial bank and customer service. They seemed to invest a large amount of time, especially in terms of excel, into me. They assigned a member of the staff per day for me to shadow, which was very insightful, and they gave me a lot of advice and information about how Santander Branches work. I felt that they went over what they were expected to invest in me.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • I was treated very well but I was given limited responsibilities as I was only there for 2 weeks and therefore they could trust me with so much. However, in terms of excel, into me, they valued my skills there greatly. I felt that they enjoyed having me around but didn't know what responsibilities I could handle and therefore didn't value as much as they could have, but I still very much enjoyed the experience. They sent me a card to thank me for my time there.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • I was given as much support as I asked for, and they never assumed that I already knew how to do something. They tried to put as much time into me as possible, especially in terms of excel. They taught me how to use Excel Macros and kept giving me database tasks to try and improve my skills with a member of the staff guiding me every day. I was given a large amount of advice and information about how Santander Branches work. I felt that they went over what they were expected to invest in me.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Some of the excel skills I learned will be useful for the rest of my degree, and the rest of my life but most of the information I learned won't be relevant. They seemed to invest a large amount of time, especially in terms of excel, into me. They assigned a member of the staff per day for me to shadow, which was very insightful, and they gave me a lot of advice and information about how Santander Branches work. I felt that they went over what they were expected to invest in me.

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • I got to be involved in the Branch members interactions and saw how friendly and helpful everyone as towards each other. They also did a charity run which showed me how much they cared for the environment as the money was raised for reducing global emissions. I felt that had an amazing culture at the company and really promoted critical thinking and being innovative. The manager always had time to listen to your ideas, no matter how absurd.
