    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • Really good placements over all, if you are looking for a role were you have real responsibilities then this certainly offers you that. Be prepared to work hard but the level of exposure you will get I return is very good and you will be pushed and test to progress throughout.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • The team that I worked with was extremely friendly. I was the only intern in the team and was working with 5 other people from Deloitte. Everyone was very welcoming from day one as well as during the internship. The work that I did during my time was highly valued.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My manager was extremely supportive. Having no background knowledge of the project, he really helped me get up to speed with everything that had been taking place before I joined. Also, he was there to answer any questions that I had during my internship. Apart from that, I was assigned a Buddy which was a very useful informal point of contact,

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • The day was evenly spread out. There were times where I was under pressure to meet a deadline but at other times the work was fairly chilled out and relaxed. Went to socials with work people after work too!

    4/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was thrown into the deep end from the 1st day. It was quite challenging at times but I enjoyed that challenge. As an Intern I am fairly satisfied with the amount of responsibility that I was given.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I feel like I am a far more employable individual now. The soft skills that I picked up during my internship will not only help me with my degree but also put me in a better position when I join back Deloitte as an analyst!

    4/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • I came in at a time where a lot of change was going on in the company, so at time the atmosphere was quite tense and edgy. But generally the people in the office were a good laugh and it was quite a relaxed atmosphere, with jokes flying around.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Everything happened fairly smoothly. The correspondence with HR was fairly quick and efficient. There were loads of socials planned every week including the welcome dinner as well as leaving drinks. Everything was planned very efficiently with no short comings.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • There was induction and IT training for the first 2 days, The Partners talk that was arranged was also very useful as there were a lot of points mentioned on personal development at Deloitte. Having talked to analysts, I found out that Deloitte takes the development of its employees very seriously and invests heavily on them,

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Subsidised Canteen

    Sports and Social Club

    Company Parties/Events

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • We were told that the idea of the placement is like a stepping stone onto the graduate scheme. So if you do well and all goes to plan you will be given a conditional offer for the graduate scheme which is a great incentive to do well!

    4/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • The placements and graduates often have nights out and we all get on quite well! The others are also socialable and a lot of people go out for drinks after work or for lunches together. As I said before, it is quite a relaxed and good working environment and I think this is reflected in the social side as many of the workers seem to get on well and go out together quite often!

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • I commuted from home so living was pretty cheap! But from the other placements who rented, it can be quite expensive but this is because it is central London. I think you could rent nearby for about £500 a month, which isn't that bad considering the location. London is full of things to do, bars, restaurants, clubs, shopping and anything you can thing of within minutes!

    2/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • London night life is really amazing. There are many pubs and restaurants there in London. You will find everything you want there but its expensive.

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • There are loads of activities from football to yoga! I don't know all of the activities that go on but all you have to do is ask around and someone will know! There are also some sports clubs and you can get involved if you like.
