About You
The Barclays Spring Insight Week in Front Office was very enjoyable, the days were very well organised and planned out and we were given a very detailed insight into all the different departments across Front Office. I feel like I gained a lot from this week and developed some of the key transferable skills required to pursue a career in banking or any other field.
We had the opportunity to meet with representatives from all the different departments through multiple networking events and work shadowing opportunities. All employees were always more than happy to talk and discuss their roles with us, and we were able to gain a greater understanding of what it is like to work in Barclays.
We were provided with a lot of guidance throughout the program, as we were given out schedules prior to the start of the program. We were able to communicate with other Spring week participants and graduate recruiters through an App developed by Barclays, providing us with easy access to guidance and support prior and throughout the program.
During the Barclays Spring Week I feel like I developed many key skills, which are transferable throughout many fields not just banking. My communication, organisational and public speaking skills had the greatest improvements, which will assist my though it my university life and into my future career. The information I received has given me a deeper understanding of banking caterers.
The Company
As previously mentioned, we were provided with the option to communicate with other Spring week participants and graduate recruiters on an app, which included out schedules for the. Week. Our week was well structured, with talks on different departments each day, and the opportunity to talk to representatives daily and ask any questions we may have had.
I had a great time at the Barclays Spring Week in front office, and the general atmosphere was very friendly. All Barclays employees were friendly and not intimidating at all, and we always felt comfortable to ask questions and talk to representatives. I think this is one main aspect which differentiates Barclays from different banks as all employees are very approachable and friendly towards everyone.
Being at Barclays gave me a great opportunity to develop my personal skills.
The front office spring week gave me a great insight into the company as we had the opportunity to talk to representatives from different areas and ask them questions about their roles. We also had the opportunity to work shadow employees within the bank and gain a first hand insight into the every day roles of Barclays employees.
I think that Barclays employees successfully conveyed the culture of the company when we got the opportunity to talk and interact with them individually. We were well aware of the Barclays values, Respect, Integrity, Service, Stewardship and Excellence, and all employees displayed these values enabling us to understand the company culture.
The week was extremely useful in giving me a greater insight into the roles within the bank, and the presentations and work shadowing gave me the opportunity to talk face to face with representatives within the bank and gain a greater understanding of their day to day jobs. Therefore I am much better informed in making a decision on my future career path.
Everything Else
There were multiple networking events put on for us during the week, giving us the opportunity to talk to representatives throughout the firm and gain a deeper understanding of their day to day roles and the atmosphere in a bank. Representatives of various seniority attended these events which was very interesting to get a broad perspective of working in a corporate environment.
Definitely, I have learnt a lot in such a short period of time and gained valuable connections whom I am able to contact for advice in the future. I am more sure on what career path I would like to follow and how I can achieve my goals. I would therefore definitely recommend attending the barclays front office spring week to a friend due to the information I gathered and connections I made.
