    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • I thoroughly enjoyed the Spring into Technology programme. The organisers made it fun as well as extremely informative. I enjoyed networking with fellow undergraduates as well as with Deloitte employees. They were all extremely friendly and I learnt so much about Deloitte’s culture and their Technology division. I felt welcome and part of the community.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • I felt extremely valued throughout the insight. Deloitte offered travel expenses as well as putting us up in a very nice hotel. We also were provided with breakfast and lunch on both days and a 3 course 5 star meal on the 1st night. They showed us that they were very enthusiastic about investing time and money into us and I felt like they wanted me to succeed and do my best.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • Throughout the insight, I was provided with a lot of information and given the opportunity to ask any questions in a comfortable environment. There was a presentation on interviews and a friendly mock interview in order to guide us and prepare us for our future applications at Deloitte. Every presenter offered us support and guidance in their area.

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I think that I developed a lot of confidence over the insight programme and I took this insight as an opportunity to network and work on my professional and personal skills. Working on my communication, presentation and interview skills will definitely help me throughout university and with my future career.

    The Company

  • 5. How well structured was the insight?
  • The insight was very well structured. For example, on the first day, we were given time get to know each other and there was even a 15 minute ice-breaker at the beginning. Then we had a couple of interactive presentations, followed my lunch and then an group exercise which involved presenting. And so on... The insight structure allowed us to take in a lot of information and enjoy it at the same time.

  • 6. How was the general atmosphere during your insight?
  • The general atmosphere was very friendly during the insight. It wasn't competitive and everyone was pushing each other to be better. This was even evident with the Deloitte employees. The atmosphere was also light and fun, as well as being professional at the same time. It had a smart-causal feel to it.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Deloitte invested a lot of time into preparing us for interviews etc. The was even a presentation on Personal Impact, where we learn how to improve our self-brand through the likes of body language. We also had the opportunity to work on our communication skills in a professional environment and presentation skills in our group exercise.

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • The insight really helped me learn about what I would be doing on a day to day basis if I had a full time role at Deloitte. I learnt about so many different divisions within Deloitte and the different tasks and challenges employees face everyday. I got to ask lots of questions and was also given written information to take away with me.

  • 9. How much did the insight help you in understanding the company culture?
  • I learnt a lot about Deloitte's culture and it's all-inclusive and diverse commitment. There are numerous diversity groups and so many opportunities to join different societies, clubs and teams. ie. From Women in Technology to wine tasting to netball... There are so many different opportunities and such a wide range of people from different backgrounds. There is something for everyone and if there isn't, you can start something new.

  • 10. How valuable was the content in helping you to decide on your future career path?
  • The content was extremely valuable in helping me to decide on my future career path. I learnt about the different divisions within Technology and I have now decided that I would like to go into Technology Consulting and in particular Cyber Security, which I thought I wouldn't be drawn to before.

    Everything Else

  • 11. Were you paid or reimbursed adequately for this experience?
  • I didn't have to pay for anything while I was there and they reimbursed my travel expenses.

  • 12. Were there opportunities for networking and meeting other employees of the company or firm?
  • A lot of employees at different levels of the company were involved in the insight programme. They were very happy to share their contact information with us and were open to answering any questions. The two days were quite busy so it would have been difficult to meet others and network further than I did.

  • 13. How were the networking/ social event opportunities?
  • The networking and social events were fun and it was easy for us to talk to anyone involved really.

  • Yes, I learn about the different clubs and societies. Some clubs even go on trips, allowing you to make better friends within the company, which could potentially benefit your career as you may get to work on different projects.

  • 15. Would you recommend this insight to a friend?
  • I would definitely recommend this insight to a friend! It was an amazing experience and I learnt a lot and I now know where I want to start my career.
