About You
I enjoyed the insight very much. It was great to learn about the investment bank's structure and the different divisions within the bank. With investment banking it is hard to get exposure to the actual job you want to pursue but with this programme, we had the opportunity to work shadow in markets which was really helpful in helping me to make my decision.
I felt very valued during my time at Barclays. The HR team was very encouraging and made us feel as though we were welcomed into Barclays. There was massive networking events set up just for us where we could get exposure to people who already hold positions within the bank.
I received guidance and support in abundance. I was given a buddy who already works at Barclays. My buddy was very helpful in providing interview guidance, providing me with reading material to better my chances in my interviews and gave me a lot more help.
Without a doubt, the skills I have developed are skills for life. As a person who gets nervous whilst delivering presentation and finds public speaking hard, I have been able to really improve my confidence and gain the ability of presenting with confidence through the many presentations we had to do at Barclays.
The Company
I believe the insight was very structured. We were given a clear agenda through the Double Dutch app so were always knew what we were doing. On Monday we had an overview to Banking, Tuesday an overview to Markets, Wednesday a Banking case study, Thursday markets work shadowing and Friday an assessment centre. Overall, I believe the event was very well structured.
I believe the atmosphere was intense during presentations but also very enjoyable. We were able to ask questions to presenters and also connect with each other. Overall I had a great time during my Spring Week and I would be able to recommend the spring week to anyone that had any general interest in Banking as you will make great friends, learn more about banking and be able to kickstart your career in banking.
Barclays definitely did invest in me. I was tested through many case studies on my understanding and my ability to present. After this, they
