About You
It was a great way to find out about all the functions of the investment bank, which I really enjoyed, and to realise which sector I would be most suited to.
Barclays is a very welcoming and including bank, and everyone is treated with respect, which did not make me feel menaced or scared or not wanted.
It was great to hear analysts etc. talking about their sectors and job, which helped me analyse whether I will be suited for a job and whether it is something I am interested in and wanted to do as my career.
The valuation techniques were very helpful, as one of my modules in university has it as one of the topics and it was great to hear from the professionals about them and listen to them explaining things, which helped me with my understanding.
The Company
It was good to have each day dedicated to a different area - banking and markets - and it helps you distinguish between the two. Also, there was a good balance of learning and putting things into practice.
Everyone was lovely, welcoming and willing to answer any questions. All of the other students on the programme were very nice and willing to learn and help out their peers.
I realised that throughout the career in Barclays learning never stops and it made me more confident in myself and that if I ever have a question, somebody will always help me or teach me.
Work shadowing in Markets has given me quite a good insight on what it is like to work in the area. The only downside is that we were not able to do work shadowing in Banking, for good reasons, but it would give me a better idea of whether I fit in there.
Everyone is friendly, willing to help, learn, respectful and very including.
It was a good mix of learning and practicing, so I have a better understanding of how to apply things you learn into practice.
Everything Else
Not really.
Very good opportunity to find out about the sector, whether you will be suited for the job and whether it is actually for you.
