About You
I found it really useful as a method to get a good insight of the banking industry! The programme was really exciting, with loads of interesting and engaging events. There were also plenty of opportunities to network and build on the skills that would be necessary in a banking career.
I felt that the programme really valued every individual's attendance at the spring week. There was great emphasis on the importance of your feedback, your overall enjoyment and want you were taking from the spring week.
There was loads of guidance and support throughout the week! It was extremely well organised, so you always knew were you needed to be. There were additionally multiple opportunities to ask questions.
In regards to my degree, I don't think the skills I developed will be especially applicable to my degree, such as professionalism. However the skills and knowledge I acquired will definitely be applicable to any career I pursue in the future, especially if it's in the financial sector.
The Company
I cannot fault the structure or organisation of the spring week!
Although the spring week definitely had a professional, friendly and welcoming atmosphere to it, I felt as though towards the end of the day, the excitement of the room would die down as everyone got tired. Placing fruit on the table in the afternoon certainly countered this, which I thought was extremely good in maintaining the pleasant atmosphere.
I thought that the company definitely invested in my personal development, by ensuring that by the end of the week, I had a good knowledge of the structure of the banking industry and which area I would be interested in.
The work shadowing was extremely useful and we were able to ask loads of questions to get a rough idea of what working full time in Barclays must be like.
I left the spring week with a much better understanding of Barclay's culture. There was a very large emphasis on the professional, exciting and friendly culture of Barclays, that greatly emphasises and embodies its values and standards.
I have a much better idea if a career in banking is for me and what area of banking I like the prospect of.
Everything Else
It was a very generous pay.
There were plenty of opportunities to network.
The networking events were very good, with refreshments provided as well. The room size of the main networking event was also brilliant, in providing plenty of space.
Although I was given a rough idea of what opportunities there were available outside work, I would have liked this to be elaborated on more.
I would definitely recommend this to a friend.
