About You
I loved every minute of the insights placement. I was given the opportunity to take part in activities that were completely different from my prior experience (heritage) so took part in client meetings and site visits for retail and other commercial surveying. The team has been fantastic; supportive, helpful, eager to share what they are doing, and fun to be with.
The team have made me feel like part of the team from day 1. Everyone treats each other as equals which makes it much easier to gel with the team and get involved. The team I worked with were like a big family.
The team gave me the right balance between letting me find my own way with a task and offering help when needed. I was always free to ask questions of anyone.
The skills and information I have acquired will assist greatly with my degree studies and future job applications. The department e-presentation talks are helpful, as are the team members who talked to me about their experience of reaching Savills.
The Company
Insight was well structured but flexible. I felt it gave a realistic impression of the flow of work for commercial surveyors.
Relaxed, cheerful, easy-going but hardworking and dedicated. The team are very passionate about what they do.
For a 1 week placement I had everything that was appropriate. I was able to join in with training courses running that week if I wished, able to attend site visits, complete office work etc. The team always gave me time when needed.
Very much. I now feel I have a vastly better understanding of what the job, and Savills, entails. Information from other surveyors in the team has also been insightful into other companies in the industry.
I have a much better idea now of what the company culture is like at Savills. It's positive, relaxed and full of good energy!
I do think I now have a clear career path in front of me. Taking part in Insights has clarified a few things I needed to know before I could make a decision.
Everything Else
This placement will have cost me - I live a long way from the site I was given, which means the maximum expenses of £100 won't even cover half of my accommodation. But it has been worth it.
Yes. Informal drinks and within the office, travelling to site.
Very good, plenty of time to talk which is the important bit!
Yes.
Yes, I would definitely recommend this to a friend.
