    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I really enjoyed my job, and although there were some negatives, I cannot fault the levels of responsibility and flexibility that I was given

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I worked in a virtual team spread across Europe, Middle East and Africa, however I never felt undervalued.

    4/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • My manager did not work in the office with me, which meant the majority of communication was done virtually. However, I was always supported and given guidance, and knew he was only ever a phone call away.

    4/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • How busy I was varied a lot over the year. However I felt there was always a good balance, and if I was ever too busy or too bored I could easily find ways to solve it.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given plenty of opportunities and responsibilities, as as said in question 2, I always felt valued by the team.

    4/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Looking back I can see how much I have developed over the last year. Key skills such as communciation and presentation have been vastly improved, and I feel much more confident and comfortable in new environments.

    5/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The atmosphere at HP is very relaxed. I personally enjoyed it most due to the other 60 interns in the office. I didn't have a team with me in the office, so didn't get the same experience as other interns in terms of getting on with and joking with fellow team-members.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The overall placement scheme was well set up as it has been going for a number of years now, and most of the initial problems have been ironed out.

    4/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • I was allowed to take up any training and development that I wanted to, despite some of it not being related to my job!

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Flexi Time

    Subsidised Canteen

    Sports and Social Club

    Company Parties/Events

    4/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I would happily come back on the Graduate scheme.

    5/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement students/colleagues?
  • As there were around 60 of us at Bracknell, with most living in Reading, we had a nice social scene. However, as to be expected there was mainly a core group of interns who wanted to go out and socialise all together. We had an Intern Social Committee to organise a few big events to get us all together.

    4/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Fairly high as in Berkshire.

    4/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • NIghtlife is OK in Reading, Nothing special, but had a lot of close nights. Also close to London, with easy access, for anyone who perfers a bigger Nightlife scene.

    4/5

  • 15. Were there many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of work?
  • I didn't take up many, but there definatly are opportunities.

    3/5
