About You
I really enjoyed the insight! I loved the workshops and found them all very informative. The workshops covered a good range of divisions and catered to all of our interests. All the speakers were also very friendly in taking questions. I thought the games were particularly helpful in bringing to life the concepts we learnt in the workshop and in consolidating our understanding.
I felt valued during my time at UBS as all employees were very willing to take the time to answer our questions, whether during workshops or work shadowing. All of the UBS employees I came across were also very willing to hear our ideas. I felt honoured to see so many employees take the time out to help us out during games and stimulations.
We had considerable guidance and support all throughout the insight. Whenever I had a question I felt comfortable to approach a UBS employee. My buddy that I work shadowed really took the time to explain her work and the concepts she comes across on a daily basis. She guided me through the complex processes of her work.
I believe the information I gained will help me as I continue to read about the financial markets and industry. The insight has provided me a good foundation of how an investment bank operates. I believe I will be able to apply the skills I developed whenever I have to analyse large amounts of information.
The Company
The insight was very well structured. I enjoyed having a workshop on European Economics and Introduction to Investment Banking on the first day to introduce to us the current stance of the markets and how everything works together in the industry. The order of the workshops and games was clearly thought through.
The general atmosphere during the insight was friendly and fun. All the spring week attendees were supportive of each other, which I think in part reflects UBS’ culture. Most people were passionate and enthusiastic to be there. It was clear to see that many have formed great friendships by the end of the week.
The insight greatly helped me in understanding the company culture. We had multiple workshops on the company values and beliefs, and workshop speakers also referenced them throughout the week. Networking, hearing about many employees’ different experiences across locations/ sectors/ teams, and work shadowing also helped me in understanding the company culture.
Everything Else
There was a networking event and a work shadowing event in which we got to meet employees across the different divisions. In addition, all the workshops were run by employees from a corresponding department. It was easy to ask them a question and meet them for a short chat at the end of the workshop.
We had a workshop on “life beyond the desk” to talk about the different networks, activities, and clubs available at UBS. Community affairs is huge at UBS and many employees are involved in volunteering. UBS is very supportive of developing such networks to connect employees with similar interests. Work/ life balance at UBS seems to be stellar.
I would definitely recommend this insight to a friend. The program exceeded my expectations, and I’ve learnt a lot while developing some friendships along the way. It was genuinely wonderful to have spent the week at UBS. I think many of the spring week interns would agree with what I said too.
