About You
The discover EY was good overall programme. Very nice group of people at EY who stayed with us to have drinks and diner at Jamie's Italian in London Bridge. The second day consisted of a very fun client pitch case study and information sessions. Lastly, we got the chance to fast-track through the application process and go straight to the assessment center.
EY treated us very well providing travel reimbursements and hotels for the ones that needed. On top of that, we were really treated as part of the company during the diner and during the client pitching exercise, where we had to pretend to be working for EY trying to land a new client.
The Human Resources team was there the whole time to support us with any queries and to lead us through the programme. While, the first day was very much informational, the second day we were more on our own as we had to be creative during the 2hour case study. However, there was not one point where we felt left alone and not supported.
You will learn a lot about EY's businesses. Furthermore, you will be confronted with problems in the case study where you will have to analyse financial statements. All these skills could be useful for business related students. For non business related students, the presentation and teamworking skills you will learn will be applicable to your degree.
The Company
The discover ey programme structure was very clear. The 1st day was very much information sessions where we heard from partners from different areas of the firm. Following that we applied what we learned in the 1st day during the 2nd day when we had to analyse a potential client in the case study.
Great atmosphere at the Discover EY programme with a great group of people. Everyone was very friendly and approachable amongst the EY staff. Furthermore, all other students came from all over the UK and were very nice as well. Overall, you will definitely have a lot of fun during the programme and meet a lot of new interesting like minded people.
It wasn't so much an individual investment from EY. They really tried to make us work in teams as much as possible and force us to be collaborative. However, being fasttracked through the application process shows that EY takes this programme seriously and that they are investing in us to hopefully see us on the graduate programme at some point.
The client pitch case study that lasted 2hours was great for that as we had to work in a team just like we would at EY. We had a "working lunch" just like you would have on a typical day where you might have to eat at your desk. It was also a lot of fun to present to a panel that represented the client and try to convince them to join the firm as a client.
Meeting EY employees during the networking events and during the diner on the 1st night really gave us a good grasp of what culture there is at EY. They are a very relax and open place to work where people are at the core of their business. They also treat there employees very well in order to ensure their happiness at work and bring out the most of them.
Any sort of information of the work EY did helped me understand if its something I could see myself doing. Wether I wanted to do it or not was a different story but it was definitely helpful in terms of information to make a decision in the future. It was very nice to talk to partners in relevant divisions as they really expanded on their career and the type of success we can have at a firm like EY.
Everything Else
travel cost reimbursed up to 100 pounds.
Great diner on the first night at Jamie Oliver with unlimited drinks. Employees were very kind and stayed with us even after diner had ended. They were very open and answered all our questions very honestly. We also had lunch networking the first day were we met current graduates who had previously done a placement year at EY.
