About You
I had a chance to meet different people from JP Morgan. They are very smart, friendly and approachable. Everyone is very passionate about their jobs. They are very interesting people to talk to. I had a chance for work shadowing. I took part in Operations challenge, business game, group project, a lot of skills sessions and very inspiring talks from very senior members of staff. I have learnt a lot for only a week. As interns were arranged to live in the same 4-star hotel which is only a few minutes walk from the beach, we had a lot of time mingling together. The room is so big and the internal decoration looks very posh. I made a lot of friends and we still kept in touch now.
I was treated very well. Interns were given a chance to raise questions for very senior people. Everyone there is very open to answer all questions from interns. People shared their experiences and insight into their day-to-day jobs. People really value us and treat us like a part of the firm.
The HR team was excellent. For every activity we do, there are always handouts with clear structures given, so we never get lost. Also, for group activities, there are always buddies who guided and gave advice on the tasks I do. They are all Associates and VPs.
I have improved my knowledge about JP Morgan culture and history after the week. The bank is very up-to-date with new technology. They are carrying out a lot of innovation projects, so I feel that I am at the heart of the institution which will shape the future world. Having done quite a range of activities, I have acquired many transferable skills that will help me to succeed in my future career.
The Company
Very well-structured. We were given an agenda for the whole week, so we had some ideas about what activities we are going to do. Also, there was a booklet about financial glossary, hints and tips which helped me make the most of the week.
Very relaxing and chilled but professional still. The working environment is very dynamic. Before I came to the Spring Week, my friends speculated about how boring Operations must be. But I don't feel that here at JP Morgan. It is a very dynamic place. People get busy all the time. There are always tasks to do and new things to learn. You will never get bored here.
They invested a lot into the week. The HR team worked very hard to give us the best experience ever. We travelled a lot to different locations for different activities so I never got bored staying in the office all the time. There are always coaches to travel the interns between locations. All interns were mixed up into different groups for different activities, so I had a chance to talk to different people. All the interns were very bright, so we learnt a lot from each other. The training session was good, I picked up many useful takeaway points/advice that I can apply in my life
It helps a lot with preparing for summer internship even if you don't get a fast track at the end. Attending the week would definitely help you to stay ahead of the game and gain comparative advantage over others in the incoming application processes
A lot. I understand reasons why JP Morgan stands out from all other competitors. I can now come up with answers regarding the bank very well if they come up in the interview.
Before the week, I was not sure about what I wanted to do. After the week, I no longer question about my choice. I want to start a career in banking industry
Everything Else
It was an unpaid programme, but I was provided with high-quality hotel accommodation with breakfasts included. Travel expenses were reimbursed. All lunches were provided. Coach travel between the accommodation to different locations
Yes, there are. We had dinner with buddies and other networking sessions with other employees.
Quite good overall. The staffs were very helpful and very open to questions. But there were a lot of interns in compared to number of staff so I found it a little bit crowded sometimes to approach them
Yes, there was a social networking at a pub with Technology spring interns as well. There was a lot of fun activities that made us more bonding to each other.
I would definitely recommend this programme to my friends
