About You
The Spring Week was very well organised and that is always a starting point to an enjoyable week. I personally really enjoyed the Insight as it was interesting to get to know about the Operations department and JP Morgan itself. On top of that, the networking opportunities were endless. Overall, it was definitely an enjoyable experience with great people from all over the world.
I really loved working with the other interns. They were really friendly and nice. The staff valued was very helpful during the whole week and took care of us in an excellent way. We were provided with excellent accommodation and transport. The work shadowing with mentors allowed us to understand more in depth the department.
We received a lot of support and guidance as were able to ask questions at any point of the presentations and talks. The employees always left a considerable amount of time at the end of their speech for a questions and answers session, the senior people in particular. During every group activity we were not left on our own, but every group had a coach to assist with any difficulty.
The skills I developed (presentation, communication, networking, team work skills) will assist me in my degree studies and even beyond because the tips and presentations we were given on how to improve our strengths and learn how to manage our weaknesses were outstanding. They will definitely help me with my studies and also with future internships and interviews.
The Company
The Spring Week was very well structured with a detailed programme schedule that was strictly adhered to and no activity started late. There were a lot of presentations by representatives from all levels throughout the week. Every person had a buddy for the work shadowing activity and was able to ask questions one to one.
The atmosphere was a generally positive atmosphere where mentors tried to help and explain as much as they could about the industry, the Bournemouth site, what they do, what to expect and so on. Everybody, from senior people to junior to the interns, was really friendly and willing to help and answer any question.
Since it was just a week, the company really took care of me and above all it was fruitful in terms of personal development.
The Spring week helped me to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company by asking questions to every single person that delivered a presentation. Above all, what helped me to understand the most was the work shadowing, where I witnessed what is done on a daily basis and asked questions directly to people who were sitting at their desks.
All the employees and even the senior people were really helpful and stressed particularly on the company’s culture and values. They focussed particularly on the Bournemouth site, which is a bit different from the rest: less corporate, more activities outside work, etc. Seeing everybody so respectful and ready to help was good.
Because it was just a week, it gave me an insight into the department, but I do not think that it is enough to decide a gareer path. However, it definitely helps to have a broad knowledge.
Everything Else
Since it was a week, I was not paid, but accommodation and travel expenses were paid by the company. Meal were provided, too.
There were a lot of opportuinities every single day.
The networking opportunities were really helpful in gaining more knowledge about the department, the company, the culture and a possible career in the firm. There was the opportunity to meet and ask questions to representatives from all levels, from the most senior to the very junior. They were really friendly ans answered even the toughest questions.
Employees can get involved in various activities outside of work. They explained to me that there are sports team, including football, and once a year there is a tournament in London. In addition to this, there are workshops where they can improve their skills. They can also join the green team, which looks after the campus and organises events.
I would definitely recommend this Spring Week to a friend because the presentations and the activities were an excellent way to learn about the company and the department. In addition to this, the networking opportunities are endless.
