The Role
I wouldn't say it was highly enjoyable but making the necessary transition from a student to working lifestyle is never going to be.
As the Internship went on, I felt more valued by my colleagues and they started to have a greater understanding of the Internship Scheme. This transpired into me being given more responsibility.
My Manager was very supportive, and at no point did I feel like a hindrance to her. She arranged many good experiences for me such as attending meetings and shadowing professionals from other areas of the insurance industry.
Most of the time, the workload was about right. I was never overloaded with too many tasks, and this meant I was always able to do my tasks as thoroughly as possible.
By the end of the internship I had constructed reports, attending client meetings and gained quotations from underwriters.
The internship was an invaluable experience and I enhanced a number of key skills; such as how to conduct myself in a professional environment and the ability to present. Also I have significantly built up my technical knowledge of the insurance industry. I can honestly say, with the additional knowledge gained I am a more valuable asset to any company.
The Company
It was fairly subdued but I was in a regional office.
Generally good, however sometimes my manager ran out of things for me to do.
I got lots of training and they were lots of colleagues who were willing to pass knowledge on to me.
Above 25 days holiday
Got a job with them at the central office.
The Culture
I was the only intern in my office. However I went to social events with colleagues and played in their 5-a-side football team.
Manchester, so relatively cheap.
Manchester, so some of the best in the country.
Can't comment as didn't look myself.
