    About You

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy the insight?
  • I had a very enjoyable, valuable insight week. It involved a well-balanced mix of theoretical sessions, and fun, team-based activities. We also had a number of opportunities to network with and shadow staff at all levels of the J.P Morgan business, enabling us to gain a strong insight into the culture and the day to day operation of the business.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued during your time at the company or firm?
  • I was made to feel highly valued during my time at J.P Morgan. All members of staff encountered were incredibly friendly and happy to share their experiences with you regardless of role, experience or seniority. A special mention should go to Clare, Lesley and Sara for organising the event. They did everything they could to make you feel at ease and like a member of the J.P Morgan team.

  • 3. How much guidance/support did you receive during the insight?
  • During every exercise undertaken we had an experienced J.P Morgan employee present to offer guidance and share their experience. Likewise Clare, Lesley and Sara were always there to answer questions and offer support where needed!

  • 4. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and information you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The skills developed during the week will be incredibly useful going forward. It has allowed me to develop a strong base understanding of the Financial Services industry and specifically Operations. I hope to be able to use these skills throughout my degree and going forward. I believe the real value of the week has been to my soft-skills. There was a constant focus on team-based activities and an opportunity to present in a pressured environment. This has helped me to further develop essential communication and teamwork skills essential to a successful career.

  • 7. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • The company really invested in my personal training and development. A number of senior member's of staff came to deliver us insightful presentations. In addition, we were given the opportunity to shadow staff allowing us to gain an understanding of what a full-time role is like. Throughout the week there was a large emphasis on asking questions, this meant if you had any queries they were answered quickly and efficiently.

  • 8. To what extent did the insight help you to understand what it would be like to have a full time role with the company or firm?
  • Due to the nature of Operations being so broad I do not feel I fully understand what a full time role would necessarily involve.. However, I did begin to get a good top level understanding of the different roles within Operation and which best suit my skill set. During the week I was able to gain an understanding of the culture of the J.P Morgan business, highlighting to me that this is a business I would love to work at.
