Spring Intern Review

The insight week allowed me to discover areas of the bank which I had not been exposed to before - it was a highly valuable experience and has provided me with an insight into what a career in investment banking entails.

I felt highly valued during my time - I was able to take part in several interactive activities and had the opportunity to network and connect with individuals at the bank as well as my peers.

I was provided with a lot of support during the program - I was able to ask questions at the end of every session and also had the opportunity to network in a more informal environment (over drinks/dinner)

I was able to gain an understanding about certain areas within the bank such as GLRM which, without the help of current employees at BAML, I would not otherwise have been exposed to. They helped me to gain a better understanding of the department which enabled me to identify the issues they face in the current economic climate.

The insight week was extremely well structured. We were given tailored timetables depending on the areas which we wanted to learn more about.

The atmosphere throughout the week was friendly and supportive. I have met a number of people who I intend to stay in contact with in the future.

Throughout the week I met a number of individuals within the bank of different seniority who were all very happy to take the time to explain their roles and answer any questions I had.

We were able to gain a good understanding of what a role in investment banking entails. I spent time shadowing in 2 departments as well as having the opportunity to speak with employees working in other areas.

Having the opportunity to be exposed to several areas within the bank allowed me to appreciate the diverse culture within the company. We also had the chance to learn about corporate responsibility and voluntary activities.

The experience confirmed my interest in a career within investment banking and helped me to identify the area which I think would suit me best.

I was given travel expenses.

We had the opportunity to network throughout the program both formally and informally.

We were given the chance to network during sessions throughout the day. On the first evening we had a welcome reception with employees from all areas of the bank. In the middle of the week we were able to network at a formal dinner.

I was exposed to activities outside of work through a dedicated corporate responsibility speaker session - We were also informed about the clubs within the bank.

I would highly recommend this insight to a friend - the program gives you a realistic view of what it is like to work within a large investment bank and the qualities needed to be successful.
