About You
I loved my spring week at Barclays, it was a great opportunity with great people and has confirmed that this is a job I would like to do in the future. I wish the week was longer!
I felt extremely valued at Barclays, employees ranging from Graduates to Managing Directors' took the time out to either talk to the group or allow us to shadow them. This made us feel valued as they had all taken the time out to give us support.
The campus recruitment team gave us a lot of support throughout the week, whenever we had an issue or was unsure of anything they were there to give us advice or support us further.
I learnt so much during my week at Barclays, these skills with help me further with my degree as I now have real life experience of what I have been learning in Economics.
The Company
The week was very well structured. The Double Dutch app was really helpful as we could see our schedule for the whole week, therefore there was never any confusion or time wasted assisting us.
The atmosphere was really positive from both the recruitment team and the interns. By the end of the week everyone was so comfortable with each other, making us feel so relaxed and welcomed. The activities ranged from active sessions to discussions, therefore we got a good balance. I enjoyed the entire week, which was mainly due to the great atmosphere.
Barclays invested in all the interns as they gave us a lot of time and attention, we learnt a lot during the week. I feel I developed and learnt more than I first thought, which was both demonstrated on my own and when working in a team.
The day-to-day working life was a great experience, as it showed us how interesting working at the firm would be. The amount of opportunities that Barclays provided give us great variety, as we could see the range of tasks that would be involved in the working day.
From the first day we were learning so much about Barclays' culture. The week gave me a great insight to how Barclays operate and how they are constantly changing.
I valued the content, as it has now confirmed that working at Barclays in the Group Functions would be an ideal career path.
Everything Else
My travel costs are being reimbursed as I don't live in London.
There were lots of networking events, which was a great experience as we got to connect with a variety of people from the Group Functions. This allowed us to grow in confidence and learn more about the roles at Barclays.
The events were really well organised and engaging. The employees generally had a real interest in you and as a result conversations flowed really well. The events gave us great opportunities to speak to people in the area in which we were particularly interested in which was brilliant.
Yes, Barclays offer a lot of extra schemes for employees ranging from 5 a side football and citizenship schemes. This was really encouraging to see, as it showed how valued their employees are.
I would definitely recommend the Spring Week to a friend, I had a great time and learnt so much. I would love to do it again due to the people I worked with and the working environment in general.
