About You
One of the best 5 days of my life. Given fantastic access to trading floors and several senior employees and everyone in the firm has a fantastic work ethic and above all, brilliant personalities.
Massively valued. The amount invested in us as only 1st year university students, both in terms of money and time, was incredible. They really made us feel special throughout the duration of the week.
Constant communication with HR all week, both via email and face to face. Asked everyone when leaving a network event or over lunch how it went and were fantastic with any issues anyone may have had during the week.
The information I learned in one week here was probably as much as I would learn in 4 weeks in uni! Information was extremely relevant and helpful and it will go a long way to my future development, not only in academic terms but as a person. The interpersonal and presentation skills I learned during the week was fantastic and I have become a much more confident person as a result.
The Company
Structure was excellent again. Our assumed knowledge at the start of the week was minimal, so the first few days were spent talking one to one with employees, and attending overview presentations of their relevant roles and asset classes, which always finished with very informative and open Q&A sessions.
Hard to put into words how good it is! Everyone is incredibly motivated, but above all completely normal! Everyone from analysts to managing directors were more than willing to sacrifice any amount of their time to answer any questions we may have had. Everyone attending the Spring Week was truly upset that the week was over and I think we have all made friends that we will have for a very long time.
They went above and beyond what we thought. From overview presentations to an hour presentation from the renowned Esther Stanhope about 'how to pitch', the education and investment we received throughout the week was exceptional.
Felt like I was doing the job myself during the rotations! We literally side side by side with Cash Equity traders on the trading floor and are thrown head first into the fast paced and exciting environment.
Every minute of every day day we were learning more and more about how brilliant the culture at J.P.Morgan really is. Everyone described a tight knit and almost family atmosphere, and that included the waiting staff to the security guards to Managing Directors.
Priceless! I had no idea what area I wanted to go into within markets or even what each one entailed, but within the week I have made a confident decision that I want to be a Cash Equities Trader!
Everything Else
We were put up in beautiful apartment accommodation, called StayCity apartments, in Greenwich. My flights were also paid for and we were provided with food and drink throughout the week.
Huge opportunities! We had a dedicated networking event everyday, starting with analysts, up to associates and then with senior management. There were also great opportunities on the trading floor as well - I left the week with about 10 business cards and about 40 names and email addresses of a vast range of employees!
Absolutely fantastic. Everyone was so open in their discussions and spoke very honestly about their lives both inside and outside the firm, for example their social lives and the level of stress they felt the job carried. At no point did it feel like anything they were talking about was 'artificial'. The majority read your CV intently beforehand and have a genuine interest in you as a person. One associate even learned everyone's name and an interesting fact about them from our CVs and was able to recall them instantly when you were conversing with him!
Yes, the firm have a variety of sports teams including cricket, football and beyond. They also have running teams who take part in marathons frequently.
Absolutely, even to a stranger in the street! It was an insanely enjoyable experience and the insight we were given was next to none.
